Marcy’s Maternity Shoot
I know you see Marcy and Mark about every 6 months on my blog but I never get bored of showing them. Zachary is expecting a baby sister and I am so glad that they decided to do another maternity shoot for her. It’s always SOOOO much fun to hang out with this family…half shooting, half gabbing. Thank you so much Marcy for letting me post the photo below! I bought this red couch when we moved to Malibu JUST for photos….and I had never used it…. Photos of Little Annalisa soon. Oh, and congratulate me on my first post on the new wordpress!

Suzanne’s Maternity Shoot!
I had the pleasure of meeting Suzanne and her husband at Deanna and Tom’s wedding and I was so thrilled when she got in touch to do a maternity shoot. Her husband, Gary, runs and ad agency but is also an avid world traveler. We talked a bit at the wedding about some of his future travels but at the time of this shoot, he traveling in one of the “Stans” (Sorry, I can never get them straight!) When Suzanne said “We should photograph at our place, I think you would find it interesting”, I definitely was not expecting the absolute wonderland of photo opportunities that I found. I guess that Gary, along side with being a world traveler, is also an avid collector of pun-filled Americana kitch – each room in their home has a different theme – from the full saloon bar, to the airstream on top of their home, to a collection of vintage cars within the premises! I’ve seen this kind of thing attempted before, but never done this well…..because in addition to all the nostalgia, each room was built so beautifully and artfully, that it all felt very livable and warm. This place will most definitely be a museum some day! I was going to post this earlier and then I remembered that the photos were a suprise for her husband. Happy Father’s Day!
Kelly and Ben – The Oviatt Penthouse
Kelly contacted me back in January about her small intimate wedding at the Oviatt Penthouse. The Oviatt is one of my favorite venues to photograph a wedding. The decor is so lovely, you simply can’t take a bad photo! It has that old Art Deco vibe and those lovely cityscape views. It’s one of those venues where, I know if a couple if getting married there…they are going to be cool. Kelly mentioned to me that she is a violin player as well and I thought, “Oh, I have to photograph this wedding!”. It was a lovely day from beginning to end. Kelly and Ben are super sweet, relaxed and fun to work with. When I met with Kelly before the wedding, she mentioned that she had converted to Judiasm for the marriage. Being a “not so religious” jew myself, this always fascinates me. It was very cool to hear about this intense process. Ben’s uncle was the official rabbi for the wedding and Ben’s mom, designed the Kattubah, which was absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for Ray Prosser, who works at the Oviatt, and helped make the day go very smoothly for me.
Flashes of Hope 3
As I have posted before, I volunteer for this amazing organization called Flashes of Hope. We go to the children’s ward at UCLA hospital and photograph the kids with very serious illnesses. This is an amazing organization and a wonderful experience for everyone involved. There is a team of makeup artists and hair stylists presents to make both the kids and the parents look their best. This time, there was lots of news media there so although I am more comfortable behind the camera, I got a little taste of my own medicine! Check out the links:
Thank you, Knottie’s
For the 3rd year in a row I got voted “Best of Photographers” in the The Knot Best of Weddings Magazine. Wow, I am so thrilled to have happy brides! Thank you!
