Jules and Danny 1.17.09 – Cafe Santorini

I know this is the longest post ever, but I just LOVE Danny and Jules.  They are just the sweetest people and it was such an honor to photograph their wedding.  There were many aspects of this wedding that are very relevant to potential brides so I am going to put some notes under some of the photos.  I have a little more history of Danny and Jules in their engagement shoot post but to reiterate:  Jules is a publicist and Capitol Records and she ROCKS!  (I get emails from her like:  “Just got back from a concert with Katy Perry…..”) and Danny is a music supervisor for TV and film.  Wonderful family, wonderful wedding party, super cool friends.

As Jules called them “The hooker pumps!”

We didn’t get to do any portraits before the ceremony but I love this one that we did in the bridal room!

I have this new thing I do with the flash that I learned from The Weibners (wedding photographers from PA), that really rocks!

We had to most of our portraits and romantics in this back alley which I thought was amazing.  I’m trying to do more poses in similar locations because I think it looks better in the albums when there is a lot of consistency.

Whoops, I made this too big but I like it!

How cool is that!

Laurie and John’s Engagement Shoot

Laurie and John will be getting married this coming September at one of my favorite venues:  The Roosevelt Hotel. We had a blast at their engagement shoot which was done at the Getty Villa in Malibu – an absolutely beautiful location. Laurie and John showed up for their meeting with me 1/2 hour early and I was still in my sweatpants….I was mortified but thank god, they still hired me ;-) They are attorneys with a good sense of humor!

My mom was WAY cool!!!

After a very brave battle with Leukemia, my mom passed away on November 25th.  Many of you know that she had been sick for a long time but her deterioration was quite sudden.  I really appreciate all of my clients who were patient with me during this time.  I wanted to post this lovely photo that my friends at Next Exit Photography took of my mom and I at my wedding.  Actually, my mom mom felt horrible on my wedding day and almost didn’t make it.  I am so glad that she did.  My mom was a fashion model back in the day but was so self-conscious of her weight gain when she had to take prednisone (a steroid) for her disease that she barely allowed me to take any photos of her at all.  This photo reminds me of how precious these moments with our loved ones are and how blessed we are to be able to capture them for other people.
