Wendy and Lior – 5.25.08
Well, I was all set for rain – I brought lights and huge black umbrellas and I never get to do a rainy wedding………but when I saw poor Wendy in the hotel where she was getting her hair and makeup done, she was so devastated about the forecast, that I really prayed the sun would come out. Well….fortune was with us….for one, because those ominous clouds made for some amazingly beautiful images…..but also because as her ceremony loomed near….the sun just BEAMED out and she had all the sunshine she had prayed for. Whew!!!! And Wendy really deserved this: she did an amazing job putting this wedding together and designed all the menus and table #’s herself. But more importantly, she and Lior are such and amazingly cute couple and it was really touching to hear her talk about how excited she was to become his wife.
This wedding took place at a venue called Villa De La Vina in Agoura Hills which is really a site to behold. It was so incredibly picturesque and quaint, so perfect for the intimate wedding that Wendy and Lior had. It was also great to see Deborah and Nate whose wedding I photographed in 2006 and Janice and JD whose wedding I’ll be photographing in October (Janice did an awesome job as MOH). I especially dug Wendy’s coordinators Jill and Stephanie from Style and Grace Events. Stephanie was VERY pregnant and it reminded me of myself almost a year before. Oh my God, can you believe Tess is going to be 1 this week? Oh, and just for the record, if it does rain on anyones wedding day I am like SOOOOOO prepared, though I hope you are not the one!
Rachel and Todd – 5.31.08
Rachel and Todd got married at the Montecito Country Club in Montecito, CA. It was such a pleasure driving up the coast towards Santa Barbara….now that we are in Malibu, S.B is no big deal at all. It takes me less time to get there than Orange County! My friends Mark and Dara who are both my friends and spiritual guru’s used to live down the street from the venue so it brought back all sorts of wonderful memories for me. Anyway, this was a very relaxed wedding – both Rachel and Todd were on time, cool and collected. I know that planning weddings can be VERY stressful but it was so wonderful to hear both Todd and Rachel say at the end of the evening that it really was the best day of their lives…..and that they were glad they didn’t elope!!!! Todd just LOVES the fisheye camera so it was fun to do all these big family groups with the fisheye. I should do that more often!
Jasmine and Keyur’s Wedding – 5.10.08
I had the pleasure of meeting Jasmine when I was 9 months pregnant. She had just graduated from Loyola Law School and I was photographing her for the alumnae magazine. We really hit it off then and I was thrilled when she got in contact with me. As fate would have it, I happened to have also photographed her friend Mita’s wedding! On a VERY rainy night back in February, I met Jasmine’s family. Her mother made me the best Chai tea ever and I felt like part of the family. Since I had to return a bunch of deposits for Indian Weddings last year because of the baby, it was perfect that I would photograph this fabulous Indian Wedding to kick off the new season.
Keyur lives in Cleveland and poor Jasmine was the butt of endless jokes about leaving Los Angeles the whole wedding…but when you meet Keyur, you can understand. He is SOOOO cool and honestly, from someone who toured around the midwest ALOT in my former career as a singer/songwriter….Cleveland is NOT THAT BAD!
Tess in the Canyons
I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted any Tess photos. It’s starting to get a little crazy now but here is one I took in the canyons recently. Look at all those teeth! I know, still not a lot of hair….but isn’t she cute, smiling at Daddy?
Kat and Noel’s Engagement Shoot
Kat and Noel are getting married in September and I am very excited to be photographing their wedding. They met in pharmacy school and have been having one of those long distance LA relationships (she is in Diamond Bar and he lives in Porter Valley). Anyway, I really loved them when I met them and I was so thrilled that they ended up booking me. Noel’s last name is Figueroa, so they thought it would be fun to do some photos by the Hotel Figuroa. An interesting area, for sure….not exactly the first place you’d think of for an engagement shoot but I always say that I think some of the most interesting photos come from when you really have to think out of the box. I want to thank Kat and Noel for the wonderful present that they got Tessy. She LOVES it! How did you know she’d be a musician?
